Corona WeedSLAYER: Product Review

The Corona WeedSLAYER is meant for tough weed removal and is built sturdy for this task. I like that the ejection spring is encased in the shaft, rather than exposed, and the large toe plate allows you to get your full weight behind it when weeding in hard or compacted soil. However, I did not find that it removes larger weeds any better than many of its lighter competitors, and the toe plate is so Continue Reading

Original Little Burro Wheelbarrow Organizer: Product Review

With well-planned storage compartments and space to securely carry long-handled tools, this sturdy tray solves a common gardener’s complaint – having to lug the same tools back and forth from a shed/garage to the garden every day. The Little Burro Wheelbarrow Organizer fits neatly on top of most standard size wheelbarrows and stays put as you move the wheelbarrow around. And, contrary to what I’d expected, there’s still plenty of room to fully use the Continue Reading

WORX GT Revolution 20V 12″ String Trimmer / Edger / Mini-Mower (WG170): Product Review

If you’re looking for a lightweight, adjustable, and convenient cordless string trimmer, I highly recommend the WORX GT Revolution 20V 12” String Trimmer / Edger / Mini-Mower. It’s easy to use, does a very good job, takes up hardly any space when storing it, and with the two included batteries it runs long enough to cover a ½ acre yard. Of all the weed eaters we’ve reviewed, this is the one I turn to every Continue Reading

Yard Force Pressure Washer (YF1600A1): Product Review

I like the Yard Force LR1600A1. It’s a beast of a machine packed in a small, easy to use unit. It has plenty of power to clean just about everything, especially with the included turbo nozzle. It’s simple to set up and easy to drag around on the two wheels without having to lift it (although it’s lightweight enough to be easily lifted and moved with the folding handle). I also appreciate the attention to Continue Reading

Earthquake® Versa Tiller Cultivator: Product Review

Don’t be fooled by the small package – this is a powerful tiller cultivator that can be operated safely and easily by most gardeners. It’s highly adjustable, with options to use 2 or 4 tines at widths of 11, 16 and 21 inches, and depths up to 11 inches. It’s reliable, starts easily and is highly maneuverable. Anyone who has a new yard or garden with soil that needs to be broken up can save Continue Reading

Melnor XT Turbo Oscillating Sprinkler with Flow Control: Product Review

Melnor has included some nice features on the XT Turbo Oscillating Sprinkler. The adjustment controls, though not intuitive, give you a lot of control over where the water goes, and the hose connector is easy to grip and turn. It works well at both higher and lower water pressure (although coverage is less at lower pressure, it still oscillates). Overall, it's a very good sprinkler with lots of features and is a good choice for Continue Reading

Dramm ColorStorm Spinning Sprinkler: Product Review

The Dramm ColorStorm Spinning Sprinkler is great at what it's created for - to be used in low water pressure situations. At low pressure, the sprinkler emits water in a fine mist; the higher your water pressure, the more the mist turns to droplets. The heavy metal base keeps the sprinkler in place, and the spinning top evenly distributes the water in a circular pattern (up to 38' in diameter, depending on water pressure). Continue Reading

Dramm ColorStorm 9-Pattern Turret Sprinkler: Product Review

The Dramm ColorStorm 9-Pattern Turret Sprinkler is a great sprinkler for multiple uses. It has a sturdy base and an easy-to-use plastic turret to switch between nine patterns. It's sturdy and should last for several seasons. It would work best in smaller areas rather than wide, expansive lawns (unless you're willing to move the sprinkler several times to cover the area). This sprinkler works well in low water pressure situations, so if you have well Continue Reading

Elevated Rolling U-Garden and Watering System: Product Review

Overall, this is an excellent “self-watering” elevated planter – with a few caveats. The planter itself looks great, is mobile and holds up well. I like that it’s made with cedar that’s certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. Because it’s elevated, there’s no need to bend when tending your plants – perfect for those with mobility or back issues. Assembly is a little tricky and the optional watering system has some drawbacks but by adding Continue Reading

GreenStalk Stackable Planter & Mover: Product Review

After 3 years of continuous use, I can't say enough good things about the GreenStalk planter! It's a nice solution to a common problem – effectively and efficiently growing plants in a small space. It’s well-designed, easy to use, allows you to grow a huge number of plants in a very small area, and keeps those plants evenly watered. And with the optional Mover, it can be easily turned or moved as needed. Continue Reading

Garden Weasel Rotary Cultivator: Product Review

The Garden Weasel is used to loosen topsoil, prepare beds by mixing soil or added organic matter, and prepare bare areas of lawn for seeding. The width can be easily adjusted by removing one or two of the three tines, making it flexible enough to use in many different situations. It’s lightweight, rust-resistant and simple to use – just place the head on the ground and roll it back and forth. Continue Reading
